September 13, 2014 Get back into the swing of poetry things this fall at our first meeting after the summer break. Sue Roberts, president of the Rusk County Poetry Society, and several of their members will travel to Dallas to share their poetry with us. Come meet some of our poets from east Texas that you may not know, and make a new friend. Also meet and greet your PST officers and board members for 2014-2015. Feel free to bring a snack to share, if you wish. 2:30 pm at the Preston Royal Library, 5626 Royal Lane in Dallas. See you there!

October 11, 2014 2:30 pm at the Preston Royal Library, 5626 Royal Lane in Dallas. Are you a fan of Downton Abbey on PBS? If so, you certainly don’t want to miss this special program! What poets would Cora, Countess of Grantham, or her daughters, Ladies Mary, Sybil, or Edith have been familiar with? Would any of their suitors have quoted these poets to win their affection? Would these poets affect the thoughts and actions of the gentry as well as the commoners of that time? To find out, please join us as Susan McGinn, a graduate of Harvard University with a B.A. cum laude in History and Literature, (England being her area of specialization) joins us. Don’t miss “On the Poetry Shelf at Downton: British Poets of the Downton Abbey Era.”
