Our meetings are open to anyone who is interested. Guests are always welcome to attend!

January 14, 2017 Happy New Year! Please join us for our first meeting of 2017 at our annual Poem-a-thon. Those in attendance will take turns reading their own poems or poems by their favorite poet. Linda Banks will also conduct a short memorial to honor our members who died in 2016. The meeting is at 2:30 pm at the Preston Royal Library, 5626 Royal Lane. Visitors are always welcome!

February 11, 2017 Come hear a HOT poet! Sandi Horton, co-founder of the newest PST chapter, HOT (Heart of Texas) Poets Society, will be presenting a special program for us right before Valentine’s Day. Come celebrate with us! 2:30 pm at the Preston Royal Library, 5626 Royal Lane.

March 11, 2017 Program by Susan Maxwell Campbell: “True Lies and Real Poems.” Susan’s talk will explore the degrees of truth, and truthiness, and dissemblance, and down-right dishonesties in some poems in Everything You Ever Wanted to Know, her 2015 Eakin book winner. 2:30 pm at the Preston Royal Library, 5626 Royal Lane.

April 8, 2017 Valerie Martin Bailey and Michaud Lamreaux from San Antonio will be presenting the program for National Poetry Month. 2:30 pm at the Preston Royal Library, 5626 Royal Lane.

April 22, 2017 PST Student Awards. 2:00 p.m. at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library at 1515 Young Street in downtown Dallas. Everyone is invited to hear students from all over Texas read their prize winning poems!

May 13, 2017 Michael Baldwin, President of the Fort Worth Poetry Society will present a Powerpoint program in which he traces the history of nature poems via examples of the great Romantic poets and up through modern times. He will also share some of his own nature poems. 2:30 pm at the Preston Royal Library, 5626 Royal Lane.

August 1, 2017 Deadline to enter The Catherine Case Lubbe Manuscript Prize.

September 9, 2017 Ann Howells, winner of the 2017 William D. Barney Memorial Chapbook Contest, will talk about how she puts a manuscript together, and will read from her winning chapbook entitled Softly Beating Wings. 2:30 pm at the Preston Royal Library, 5626 Royal Lane.

October 14, 2017 J.Paul Holcomb, our own expert teacher of French forms, will don his French beret and teach us to write selected French forms. J. Paul is well known to PST members, having served as PST’s president for three years. He is also known as the Poet from Double Oak, but recently he was named the first Poet Laureate of Lewisville, Texas, his former residence for many years. He wrote a column for Fort Worth Poet, then DFW Poetry Review for five years. Don’t miss this évent! 2:30 pm at the Preston Royal Library, 5626 Royal Lane.

December 9, 2017 Christmas is coming! Are you feeling more like Santa or Scrooge? Bring paper and pen for a Christmas/winter themed writing workshop with Catherine L’Herison.
